As you can see, we're a 'bricks-and-mortar', specialist travel agency but we're not located in a major shopping precinct. We think that's a great advantage for giving very personal attention because we're not continually distracted by ad hoc general travel enquiries.
A great number of our clients are couples and singles but we also arrange air travel, tours and packages for groups. Because we understand people's special needs and interests, several Probus and sporting clubs trust in us to arrange both their simple, and quite complex itineraries, for short and long-duration group travel.

He's witnessed some huge industry changes in that time and has travelled to over 30 countries, including a one-year term with the UN in Vienna and five years living and working in Papua New Guinea. Voytek is the manager and one of the two directors of the company. He holds an Associate Diploma in Travel and Tourism. In addition to arranging thousands of travel itineraries, he has escorted tours involving elephant treks in northern Thailand, windsurfing in Fiji, trekking to Machu Picchu and discovering ancient monuments and forgotten sights in China. Voytek also loves train travel ... in Japan, France, Germany, New Zealand, everywhere. His favourite idea of a working holiday is escorting locomotive enthusiasts to the world's last steam frontiers, like Poland, where he's already conducted five such tours since 1999. |

LASEK Early on, she
completed a degree in Teaching then travelled to Europe and Asia
for several years. After meeting Voytek, she lived in Papua New
Guinea for 3 years but on return to Australia, made a successful
and big career change to Merchant Banking. Jeanette is one of the two directors of the company. |

Our specialist travel agency has been established for over 20 years at the same location. Importantly, we're also part of the Jetset Travelworld Group - Australia's largest travel agency franchise group - whilst maintaining independence through private ownership of our business. For your peace of mind, security and a demonstration of our professionalism, we have TCF accreditation. We're also accredited IATA travel agency. The Travel Compensation Fund (TCF) protects you, by guarding against the failure of participating travel agency businesses. The TCF conducts financial monitoring of agency accounts and for us to become or remain a participant, we must demonstrate that we have sufficient financial resources to trade as a travel agent. Like all TCF participants, we are required to renew our participation annually, and must provide detailed financial information to the TCF. Being accredited with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), gives you the additional assurance that you are dealing with a professional travel business. Our conformance to IATA's recognised and stringent standards, means that we are formally recognised and authorised to sell and issue international airline tickets. Fundamentally, we accept payments from clients on behalf of the airlines whose tickets are issued. So, it is essential that both clients and airlines can rely on us for tickets to be issued according to the required standards. |

The owners of Travel by Design at Pennant Hills, Voyek and Janet Lasek, said they were "overwhelmed by their double win" at the business awards - for Tourism and Travel Services and Readers' Choice. Mr and Mrs Lasek said dedication to their customers was what helped them win twice on the night. Janet Lasek said she truly believed that their business is driven by the clients and the community. "Without our clients we would not have done as well as we did," she said. Mrs Lasek also said that if it weren't for such dedicated and loyal customers there would not be a business. "We pour our hearts and souls into the company," she said.

Winners of 'Best Travel Agency 2007' Travel by Design at Pennant Hills became the most popular business at the 2007 truelocal Business Awards after owner Voytek Lasek offered guests on the night $50 off any travel tickets they bought from them. Travel by Design was the winner in the Tourism and Travel Services category. "This is definitely an honour", co-owner Jeanette Lasek said. "I am really overwhelmed because I didn't expect it. We won the category two years ago so we are determined now to win again next year." Mr Lasek paid credit to all of the small businesses nominated on the night. Winners of 'Business of the Year 2004' In just 12 months Voytek and Jeanette Lasek opened a business at Pennant Hills, established a loyal customer base and collected two awards, including the coveted Business of the Year Award, at the Community Business Awards. The two were "very excited" when their travel agency , Travel by Design, was announced winner of the service and trade category, and "shocked" when they picked up the 2004 Business of the Year award. Although Mr Lasek has worked in the travel industry for more than 20 years, this is the first time he has run his own business. "Most of the people (at the business awards) have been around a lot longer", he said. "It was such a great shock. It's a boost. It makes you feel it must be working." Mrs Lasek said the business focus was on "quality, not quantity". "We try to tap into what the client's needs are", she said. "[Travel] is like a medicine these days It's there for people's welbeing... and that is just what we try to achieve". And if collecting the much sought-after business of the year award came down to that "extra something", Travel by Design was a worthy winner.
